Join the blackout, get the code here. Code will work for most websites, Blogger and Tumblr.
Putting the code in is really easy; just paste it in the description box. If that doesn’t work, just paste the code in right after the <head> tag.

We also fear the enactment of Section 19 of RA 10175, which effectively makes the Department of Justice an all-encompassing “Internet superpower.” Section 19 of RA 10175 states, “When a computer data is prima facie found to be in violation of the provisions of this Act, the DOJ shall issue an order to restrict or block access to such computer data.” Under such provision, the DOJ can take down websites that it suspects – upon initial observation – to be violating RA 10175.

The Cybercrime Prevention Law is, in fact, far worse than the “Stop Online Piracy Act” and the “Protect IP Act,” that were pushed in the US Congress earlier this year but failed to prosper. RA 10175 will have a “chilling impact” to bloggers, online journalists, advocacy groups and normal netizens, as any website can be shut down with accusations of infringement without due process.

It is also alarming that the new law was seemingly drafted with the mindset that crimes committed online is graver than those committed in the real world. Due to the vague provisions in RA 10175, even commenters and those that retweet libellous materials can also be incriminated.

unlike most of tumblr I actually like Facebook

but oh god sometimes it makes my blood pressure rise

I’ve unsubscribed to most of my high school acquaintances (that I deigned to accept and didn’t ignore shhh) since I don’t really need or want to see their children, moody statuses, clubbing pictures, and vaginas/nudes.

Which just leaves my college friends and acquaintances and at least 75% of the time, it’s all politics.

Which I can’t blame them for because that’s half the reason I use Facebook as well, to spread news and be informed (if anything, studying where we did taught us to use social networking sites to spread information).

and today it was full of the cybercrime law and senator sotto and the RH bill and the stunning silence of acquaintances who actually work in the government now. OH AND A PROMINENT NEWS PROGRAM JUST HAD A FEATURE ON HOW TO AVOID GETTING RAPED.

Because you know, it’s totally a rape victim’s fault for dressing the way she wants to slash going out at night slash riding a cab alone. Ugh, why can’t these women just stay inside their houses, lock their windows and doors and grow their own food? Or better yet, move to a cabin far away, because staying in a house isn’t safe; just because someone’s your relative / family friend /step relative doesn’t mean they won’t rape you. Yep, better go to the ends of the earth and live there and avoid rape, god forbid the news does something like, I don’t know, blame the perpetrators? Or  tell people that rape this is wrong and dehumanizing? Nope, they do a feature on how to avoid rape because it’s women’s fault for having a vagina.

and ughh i just want to strangle Sotto for this bill

am I allowed to say that, will I get arrested?

because I can apparently get arrested for ‘liking’ or ‘sharing’ something on Facebook?

wait just let me finish reading this:

 Republic Act No. 10175

AN ACT DEFINING CYBERCRIME, PROVIDING FOR THE PREVENTION, INVESTIGATION, SUPPRESSION AND THE IMPOSITION OF PENALTIES THEREFOR AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

http://www.gov.ph/2012/09/12/republic-act-no-10175/

(altho let’s be real here; nobody actually thinks that 50M will go to this law right? Maybe 10-25M at most, but the rest is just going in someone or several someones’ pocket/s. But that is still 10-25M that could have been used for education and/or food programs.)

I have no love for you. You know, when I was younger, I&#8217;ve always thought it was stupid that celebrities with no educational background on politics or governance were getting elected into political positions by the uneducated (though not of their own choice, I guess) TV loving masses, but whatever. What harm can those celebs really do?

Well as it turns out&#8230;

Dear Tumblr,

2a2n:

The Philippine government is trying to pass a law that’s trying to control the internet only because one of the senators refused to admit that he fucked up, twice. Basically taking away internet freedom for my country. We helped out when you had your ACTA, PIPA and SOPA problems, now we’re asking you guys to return the favor.

there’s a petition up and we need a shit ton of signatures
